Dental veneers sometimes also called “porcelain veneers”. Veneers were designed by a Californian dentist for temporary purpose for the actors but at that time it may fall or last for a short period of time. But nowadays veneers are made up of porcelain or from the resin composite material, apart from that they are cemented properly and done with a bonding so it can last for 10-30 years, depending upon the oral hygiene of the patient. Veneers help to cover the upper surface of teeth’s which are misshapen, discolored, chipped or missed. What’s the procedure of getting dental veneers?
Dental veneers require almost three trips to the dentist. In the first step the dentist examine and will provide the consultation about the treatment and the remaining two trips will be given in making and applying the veneer. So let us look at the procedure.
Diagnosis and treatment planning: In this step your active participation is important. You need to explain the dentist that what you want to achieve or how it should be. The dentist will start examining you that whether are you are the right candidate for the veneer. After that he/she will advise about the benefits and the limitations. He or she may also take the X-ray test.
Preparation: In this step the dentist takes into account your impression or the model of your inner surface of the tooth. To prepare tooth for a veneer your dentist will remove 1/2 millimeter of your enamel from tooth surface. Before trimming off the enamel surface, you and your dentist will decide need for the local anesthetic to numb the area. After that dentist will prepare the model or impression of your tooth surface. After doing all these things your dentist will send it to the dental laboratory for preparing the veneer. After 2-4 weeks it will be received by the dentist according to the size and structure given by the dentist.
Bonding: Before permanently fixing the veneer in your tooth surface the dentist will look and see how it is responding like color and size. He will be repeatedly doing trimming until it is properly fitted. The color of the veneer can be adjusted with the shade of cement. Next step to receive veneer on your tooth it will be cleaned, polished which will allows the tooth surface to be strong. After that a special cement is applied on veneer and the veneer is then placed on your tooth. After being properly positioned on your tooth surface, the dentist will apply a special light beam on your tooth which will ultimately makes the cement hard and the chemical under it will cure it quickly. After the final process any adjustment not to be made until not told by the dentist, after some weeks the dentist will tell to return for the follow up visit to see whether any gums are not present on the veneer if he or she find something like that he may replace that veneer.
