If you have decided to get an Invisible Aligner Treatment plan, you have made a biggest investment in your smile that will change your life. You will be wearing those aligners for 22 hours a day for the next several months, so here are five tips to take care of them so they stay clean, clear and invisible.
- Rinse when you Remove:
Rinse your invisible aligners with cold water when you remove them. This will help you to eliminate dried saliva from building up on the plastic, which can cause bacteria to form. Keep and Stay healthy by keeping your aligners clean.
- Don’t use Hot Water to Clean Your Aligners:
Never use hot water to clean your aligners, and don’t wash them through the dishwater. The high heat can damage the plastic and relics your aligners.
- Brush and Floss Before you Wear:
After eating be sure to brush and floss the teeth, and after washing put your invisible aligners back in your mouth. If you don’t, this may lead to higher risk of food particles getting trapped between your aligners and can cause dental issues.
- Clean with Soap, Not with Toothpaste:
To clean Aligners use antibacterial soap, not with toothpaste. Toothpaste can be abrasive against the plastic, which may scratch your invisible aligners. Scratched aligners can be visible to notice.
- Don’t soak aligners into mouthwash:
The greens and blues of most mouthwash products can discolor your aligners, giving them that same tint that you’ll see in the mouthwash bottle. Instead, if you want to keep your aligners clear and sanitized, try soaking them in a clear retainer or denture cleaner.
